Detoxification (DETOX for short) is the physiological or medical removal of toxic substances from a living organism, including the human body, which is mainly carried out by the liver.
There are many products, formulations, methods and programs out there today, all claiming to help you remove toxins from you body. All of this can just lead to confusion and not knowing where to start so I like to keep it simple with the following 10 steps:
1. Eat a diet rich in whole foods that are free of additives and preservatives
2. Cut out simple carbohydrates, sugar, gluten, fried foods and dairy.
3. Eat organic foods when possible free of pesticides and fertilizers.
4. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
5. Eat more fiber in its most natural forms.
6. Get more exercise and sweat it out.
7. Replace morning coffee with green tea.
8. Take probiotics to get rid of the bad bacteria and welcome the good kind.
9. Ensure that urination and evacuation are happening regularly.
10. Increase sleep.
